A major fire broke out on the premises of the Thermal Station at Mettur on Friday night. No loss of life, however, was reported.
Police sources claimed that the fire was noticed in a godown where construction materials were kept since the expansion works of the Thermal station are going on.
An hour’s work
Fire tenders from Thermal Station, Mettur and near-by areas fought for nearly an hour to douse the blaze.
Cause
The cause for the fire at thermal station and the value of loss are yet to be ascertained, police saources said.
