CUDDALORE: More than 300 workers of Pioneer Miyagi Chemicals Ltd, SIPCOT Industrial Estate, Semmankuppam, near here, who are now resorting to an indefinite strike from July 12, have threatened to observe a fast on Tuesday.

CITU district president P Karuppaian said the management of chemical firm was acting against the interests of the workers. It was practising `anti-labour’ policies and was not providing minimum wage and equal wage for equal work to the labourers.

Monitory benefits, including ESI and provident fund, were denied to the workers. The issue was brought to the notice of the State Government.

Karuppaian said the workers, along with their family members, would take part in the fast. Expressing solidarity with the agitating workers, SIPCOT Industrial Estate workers would observe a fast on Thursday, he said.
