Two workers injured in Tagros

CUDDALORE, 29 June, 2009 - Two contract workers from Pachiyankuppam village in SIPCOT, D Kumar and S Selvakumar, got injured in a bromine spill in Tagros Chemicals at 11.30 a.m. today. Both suffered burns on their hands, legs and some other parts of their bodies during the spill. According to the sources the spill occurred at the Bromine storage area in the unit. The workers were admitted in the Burns Ward of Kannan Hospital, a private institution in Cuddalore town this morning.

SACEM monitors have reported this incident to the Factories Inspectorate and the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board and further response and action is awaited.
