Dinakaran
A privately owned Thermal Power Plant is under construction in Pudhukuppam near Parangipettai. A pipeline is being laid in the adjacent coastal area for the above project. The Pudhukuppam villagers have raised opposition to this project. On March 16th the villagers assembled at the constuction site and staged demonstrations demanding discontinuation of work. On being informed of this the Chidambaram ASP Mr.Durai and Tahsildar Mr.Dhanasingh arrived at the spot and entered into talks with the villagers. As a result of the talks the village people dispersed. In connection with this, on the complaint received from the Parangipettai Revenue Inspector Mr.Sekar , the Parangipettai police have registered complaints and are conducting inquiries. on the villagers Subramaniam, Arumugam, Thangamani, Munusamy, Selvaraj, Panchanathan and others numbering to 132 persons in all including 30 women.
