Dear Sir:
Please find the reports of pollution patrols conducted between 27-30 September, 2005 and coinciding with the dates of NEERIs second round of sampling in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court Monitoring Committee. Despite the fact that we have not been kept abreast of developments on this front as required by the SCMCs instructions, we are nevertheless providing you with the reports of our patrols in a spirit of cooperation.

As per our inspection on 28 September, 2005, sampling devices had been placed in the following locations.

1. On top of a single-storeyed house about 25 feet away from Tagros
2. Two devices, one in Kudikadu primary school, and another on top of a nearby building
3. On the terrace of the TASMAC building
4. On top of SIPCOT office, near SPIC Pharma

No device had been placed on top of Alapakkam school.

As per our inspection on 29 September, 2005, sampling devices had been placed in the following locations:
One sampling device has been placed on top of Periya Alambakkam Government school.
On top of a house near Karaikadu Rice Mill
On the second floor of Mr. Sundaramoorthys house in Sonnanchavadi
On top of CUSECS 6
On top of single-storeyed house in Thaikal Thonithurai

It has also been reported to us by some workers that some companies sprayed fragrant chemicals to suppress the smell. Also, it has come to our notice that companies were either not operating, or not operating to capacity during the duration of the NEERI study.

We wish to bring this to the notice of the NEERI study team so that they can view their results for this round of sampling in the correct context.
