Cuddalore 28 October, 2010: At least 3 contract workers were injured in an accident in Aurobindo Pharma yesterday evening. According to SACEM, the accident took place in the drier section of the unit at about 6.30 pm yesterday. While one of the workers, Mukesh, from West Bengal, suffered severe injuries on his hands and feet and was taken to Kannan Hospital in Cuddalore, conditions of the other two workers was not known.
More information on the nature of the accident and the conditions of the workers are awaited. In the meanwhile it was learnt that the District Environment Engineer had immediately visited the site after the accident was reported. SACEM has filed a complaint with the Factories Inspectorate and awaits their investigation report.
