CHIDAMBARAM: A worker from Bihar died in an accident in a private power company near Chidambaram on Sunday. Sources said Uttam Yadav (22) was a construction worker in IL&FS, a power company, at Karikuppam near Chidambaram, where he accidentally fell from a 20-foot high structure. He was taken to the Rajah Muthiah Medical College Hospital, where he died despite treatment. Parangipettai police registered a case and began investigations.
Arul Selvam, environmental activist of Cuddalore, said, “The National Green Tribunal Principal Bench, Delhi, had cancelled the environment clearance on November 10, 2014. Based on that order, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) revoked the consent order on December 6. And, a construction worker died in an accident in the company. How can the company continue the work?”
