Cuddalore, 18 January 2015: One worker lost his life in an accident at the construction site of IL&FS power plant in Cuddalore. According to the sources the accident took place in the morning today during the ongoing construction activities at the factory site. The deceased worker, 22 years old Uttam Yadav from Bihar, fell from a height of 20 feet at the construction site in the factory. He was rushed to Raja Muthiah Hospital, a private hospital in Chidambaram. He was declared dead at the hospital.
IL&FS has been engaged in the construction activities despite the cancellation of their Environment Clearance by the National Green Tribunal in November 2014.
Local activists and residents hold Ministry of Environment & Forests, Tamil Nadu Government and Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board along with IL&FS equally responsible for the death of the worker.
A compliant with regard to this accident is being filed with the Inspectorate of Factories at Cuddalore.
