Cuddalore. 7 December, 2006 — Fisherfolk from Sangolikuppam who went fishing in a stream behind Kudikadu in SIPCOT reported severe skin itching and discomfort within minutes after enter the stream early on the morning of 7 December. Despite claims that all effluents are being routed to sea, the industry routinely discharges wastewater into the River Uppanar. About 20 people who went to copmplain to the Tamilnadu Pollution Control Board on that day were unable to do so because no officers were available. The complaint was delivered today.
