NOTICE
This authority constituted by the Central Government under Notification No. 671 (E), Ministry of Environment & Forests dated 30/9/1996 (copy enclosed) has the jurisdiction and power under the Notification, inter alia, to address the loss of ecology and environment in the affected areas, to assess compensation payable to the affected individuals and to determine the compensation to be recovered from the polluters.
You are hereby informed that on M/S West Gonur Farmers Welfare Association, Mettur Dam, Salem District has sent a petition dated 27/12/2005 complaining against M/S. Chemplast Sanmar Ltd, Mettur, Salem District, and also against M/S. MALCO, Mettur, Salem District, a copy of the complaint is enclosed.
Notice is hereby given to you that it is proposed to consider whether you viz,
- Chemplast Sanmar Ltd
- MALCO
have caused loss to ecology as claimed by M/S. West Gonur Farmers Welfare Association, Salem District.
You viz, M/S. Chemplast Sanmar Ltd, Mettur, Salem District and M/S. MALCO, Mettur, Salem District, are hereby requested to file your reply within 21 days from the date of this notice as to why the claim of compensation preferred by 80 agriculturalists as represented by M/S. West Gonur Farmers Welfare Association, Mettur, Salem district, for the loss said to have been caused by your industrial operation, should not be assessed and awarded.
Please take notice that if you fail to file your reply before the Authority by the prescribed date, the matter will be decided ex-parte.
