Cuddalore Residents Blockade TNPCB Office to Protest Pollution

Cuddalore, 18 May 2015: More than 100 residents of Semmankuppam village today blocked the office of TNPCB in SIPCOT region protesting noxious emissions from Golden Fish Oil Company. According to the residents the fish oil company has been emitting heavy smoke and strong pungent odour, causing the local residents to suffer from various health problems.

The residents also gave TNPCB officals a petition stating their demands to stop the company due to its disastrous effects on the health of the people living in the area. The officials assured of required action against Golden Fish Company, but the people were not satisfied with just that. They refused to leave the premises and stated they would not disperse until the TNPCB would stop the company from operating, with immediate effect.

After much pressure from the residents the TNPCB sent a letter to Golden Oil Company asking for their explanation regarding people’s complaints.
