District Collector asks the Factory Inspector for a report on the conditions in SIPCOT industries

Cuddalore, 21 October 2005: The District Collector of Cuddalore has written to the Factories Inspector on 18 October, 2005, urging the official to conduct surprise visits and inspections of safety conditions in the SIPCOT units and submit a report to his office at the earliest. This recommendation was issued by the Collectorate in response to a complaint filed by SACEM reporting the industrial accident in Victory Chemicals and also highlighting the hazardous working conditions prevalent in SIPCOT. The District Collector in his letter to the Factory Inspector has quoted SACEM statement about no protection being provided to the workers in the factory and called for an immediate investigation and action on the issue. He has also instructed for an official report on the industrial accident in Victory Chemicals that killed one contract worker in the factory.
