Cuddalore, May 13, 2005: Another effluent leak from CUSECS Pump 3 has been reported in SIPCOT Cuddalore. According to SACEM monitors, effluents from CUSECS pump 3 leaked for about four hours on the night of May 11, Tuesday. Pioneer Miyagi Chemicals and SPIC Pharma empty their effluents into CUSECS Pump 3.
According to workers from CUSECS, the leak was caused because of a fault in the pipeline. The pump operator said that he had made several complaints regarding the poor condition of the pipelines to CUSECS authorities, but no action was taken. SACEM has filed a complaint with the Tamilnadu Pollution Control Board.
